Personal Edition vs. Group Edition | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Personal Edition is designed to run on a single computer. It has a local GUI, control network traffic and applications on local computer.
It can popup event dialog or right corner toaster for security events.
Group Edition has a console and multiple agents, with each agent running on one machine. From console, user can centrally control network traffic of multiple machines. Note that in case you are running an ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) server and want to control network traffic of all ICS clients, you might not need the Group Edition. A Personal Edition running on ICS server can detect traffic made by ICS clients and block/shape traffic by the client IP address. If you want detail applications information on those clients and you have admin access to them, Group edition is your choice. |

Ver3.50 Group Edition | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
System Supported (for both console and agents):
Windows 98/ME and Windows NT are no longer supported. Remote agent installation will not ask for reboot. You can manage it right after installation, but it will not monitor established sessions prior the installation. To see all sessions, a reboot on the agent is required. To upgrade from old version, please first install new version of console over
old one, then use the console "Apply Updates to Agents"
feature to upgrade agents. Please save your work on agents during update
because it will automatically reboot the agent machine. |

Windows maybe prompt about "Unidentified Publisher" during installation. This is because Windows does not install all root certificate CA by default. You can simply ignore it, or right-click the install file, select "Properties->Digital Signature", then click the "Detail" button for the "eMing Software Inc." signature, Windows will automatically update it's root CA list and will not warn again when you run the installation again |
